nah, well.... it's seasonal. Every now and then it carrys on. I just dont boost it anymore. The car is pissin me off. Missing, howling on boost, f**ked cv joints. Cant win. lol. I need to build up some motivation to get stuck into it n properly sort it out, just cbf atm.. ECC are doin me up new ignition leads, so ill wait till they turn up and see if they make a difference, then if they dont ill change out all coilpacks, then if that doesnt fix it, ill have 4 spare coilpacks lol and i dunno what else ill check.

so a little update

got under the car and had a bit of a look at my cv joint on the passenger side and discovered this (i knew it was damaged but didnt realise how badly exactly haha)

these are on the way

r33 gtr cv joints with modified s14 half shafts

and also have r32 gtr rear hubs.

Hopefully that sorts out the problem of cvs that are wanting to fly apart all the time.

Alright boys and ladies,

Bit of a big update.

Decided to change from standard s14 cv's over to R33 GTR cv's, not because i wanted to but basically i needed too due to the standard passenger side (the short cv) developing a pretty nasty tear and a bit of a rattle when WOT.
Attached Image: 149650_3989207734218_1283218237_n.jpg
Attached Image: 427847_3989204974149_1624263279_n.jpg

So here's the story.

I bought new modified half shafts
Attached Image: 578955_4096207969157_1522719193_n.jpg

turns out the passenger side half shaft was 11mm too long, so i needed to get it onto a lathe and trim the end of it off (the reason it was too long is because i have a nismo gt pro 1.5 way lsd which is actually out of an s15, also the thickness of these shafts is 31mm)
Attached Image: 530719_4112404574062_1740442155_n.jpg
Attached Image: 602405_4112420494460_1814400268_n.jpg

here we are putting a little taper on the end so it mates into the diff nicely
Attached Image: 530649_4112528817168_1022745994_n.jpg
Attached Image: 229889_4112430214703_1601557676_n.jpg

I put GTR hubs in it aswell so the GTR CV's would work with my setup, i didnt put the GTR Knuckles in even though i wanted too as they are made of alloy and nice and light because some of the bushes were f**ked and untill i can find new ones im not interested in them for now
Attached Image: 541176_4009249075239_1296465631_n.jpg

so anyways, I got the cv and stub axle/half shaft put into the car, bolted the arms and shock back onto the hub, put the wheel on and done the nuts up, they drove the car down the street and first bump the car went over, the stub axle completely pops out of the diff.

GTR Driverside cv is overall 40mm shorter then stock s14 cv from driverside.
Attached Image: 254367_4112387493635_1276505884_n.jpgAttached Image: 487277_4112390493710_1236798153_n.jpg

So We decided to make a spacer to go between the stub axle and the cv
Attached Image: 644130_4113844810067_1206192949_n.jpg

and, while i was at it, tore that cv joint apart and changed grease in it and put it all back together good as new, also had the bearing casing of the cv bead blasted, good as new :)
Attached Image: 60689_4113290356206_1072310635_n.jpgAttached Image: 550103_4113292196252_2042699722_n.jpgAttached Image: 599233_4113294956321_1863397455_n.jpgAttached Image: 68061_4113838569911_2128119349_n.jpg

Next up was getting car on hoist and turning my diff torque setting to low as it was on high,
Attached Image: 21318_4112388453659_1927321224_n.jpg

then installing spacer and cv and stub axle and hub and bolting it all together and Road testing..
Attached Image: 405069_4113882050998_1227742531_n.jpgAttached Image: 545267_4113880530960_1421132201_n.jpg

Rear end should be sorted now, the car is a million times better to drive, it likes to turn corners now, the diff noises have literally gone thanks to turning that nut to the left to loosen it up, And all the low speed shuddering of the whole car have disappeared thanks to the GTR cv's. Money well spent.

Really glad you got your shit together, because I got a good read out of it! Good to see you've had fun with it though looks like a sick set up all round dunno if you ended up getting coil overs but if you wanna make your car a bit more multi purpose I think it'll help (dunno if it helps for drags that much)

Definitely don't lose motivation man if I had my shit together I'd love to go thru what you're going thru, you've made this thing awesome since the start guess the hiccups are expected every now and then right?

Man I gotta hit up a diff lollol

Yeah motivation for this car is a seasonal thing, sometimes ill leave it for weeks and just poke around to work and back then other times ill wanna fang it but knowing theres things wrong i get my motivation back to sort it out...

I was abit skeptical of the gtr cv changeover at first because they didnt fit like the dumbass who i bought all the gear from said they would, but me and some mates worked it out and got it done, I'm so glad we did, the difference is truely amazing, the diff is so much quieter, at really low revs and speed like under 40 the car doesnt jolt back and forwards anymore, it actually turns corners really well, it slides pretty good still too even though the torque setting is on low...

While we had the rear end apart we changed the rear main oil seal in the gearbox too because that was leaking and i put redline lightweight shockproof oil in the box and diff, the box is sooo much nicer now too, no more stiffness trying to get into gears, doesn slightly crunch quick changing from 3rd to 4th..

Next project is one of the new plazmaman intake plenums, There's a guy on here, SR20JOEL, Who's just had his all rebuilt and put one of these plenums on his and it make 20kw atw extra just by putting on the plenum so there's abit of inspiration for me to get that one, i was looking at them when they first came out thinking how f**king PORN they look also but didnt want to get one straight up as they hadnt done any testing on them, but seeing Joel's s13, im hell keen for one! I'll get a retune aswell and more boost and see how far i can push this setup before i max out injectors or fuel pump or it starts to knock... Will be interesting now that my motor is nicely run in.

Also have replaced my speedo sender unit on my gearbox so i now have a functioning speedometer. Winning! haha

As for coilovers, Ive got my eye on some silkroads, but im a little unsure about coilovers, theres so many different varied opinions on them, i want something that has height and damper adjustment, ill need camber adjustment for the front aswell but i want something thats good for drag racing as i dont really drift but at the same time it needs to be nice to drive on the street.. So thats basically where im at with that one..

And yes dude get a diff, they are so worth the money, Your traction levels raise HEAPS and they are pretty good for drifting obviously... Well and truel worth the money i reckon. :)

Ok so today i decided to pull my dump pipe off to check it for cracks in the welds or something to try and figure out why the car makes such a stupid noise while its on boost (the almighty boost howl). Dont laugh at the dump pipe, i didnt do it! But i found a little nick in it so ill get that fixed. I wish *milkshakes* who worked on my car would stop being shitcunts.

pics for proof.

what a f**king shambles. See the black mark?

That tiny little hole won't be making such a loud noise. Exhaust leaks don't howl like that.

At least you found one potential issue mate :) Go over your intercooler piping and check the joiners for cracks. If your pedantic take it to a workshop and get them to do a smoke test. Otherwise there's a bike inner tube trick I've heard of but I can't remember how it's done.
Nice car and power by the way.

Alright so for a while now since i went to the 1/8 mile drags a couple months ago the car has been missing and carrying on randomly, So a few weeks ago i bought 4 new bosch HEC715 Coilpacks and had them installed coz i could not of been f**ked doing it, and this week i contacted topgun ignition and measured up from my coils to my plugs and ordered new custom Leads... They turned up yesterday so i threw them on. They look heaps better. Should sort out the dodgy leads that were in it, hopefully no more missing.

PICS!!

Old shit leads

That sucks man. What exactly happened? Just something gradual or you think it just went one day? I imagine it has copped a bit of a flogging since the build?
