Hey guys,

Just purchased a 180sx, it has the standard VLSD in it.
I just want to know how it is for drifting?
I have done a couple of small slides so far, and it does seem to single peg when going slowly.
But that might be because I was going pretty slow, and it only seemed to be singling in the wet?
Considering just shimming or welding. Let me know your thoughts guys!

Thanks!

Shim it up. Should be heaps of info out there on them.

Some guys will shim them up to the point of being a locker, but I believe there's a way to figure out how much to shim one, to make them a little more friendly on the street.

If the diff's worn it may still end up single pegging after being shimmed. It can also still single when the diff centre gets hot from memory.

Cheap 2 ways pop up every now and then or else welding might be an option too if you can live with it

Throw in 1 extra .8 shim for now then save up for a better centre.

I put a .8mm shim in my stock 180sx ca18det R200 vlsd 4.3 ratio. It was good at the start, skipped around in the carpark, powered out of corners nicely etc.
I did one peanut drift day with near-standard power and it loosened right up, started single legging by the end of the day. Chucked a weldie in and never had a problem single legging

This along with good oil. If your going to daily drive it get a 1.5 way.

Thanks everyone!
I think I'm just going to buy a cheap diff and weld it!
See how I go and if I enjoy driving with it.
If I don't like it I'll just chuck back in the vlsd and save for a proper 2-way lsd!

2 way B)

Only thing I'm not the hugest fan with my 2 way is if I'm driving it hard through the hills is feels like the car just wants to understeer. However the car holds great if you throw the arse end out.

Just use throttle to control the understeer :)

Cunts.
