Independence Day Resurgence is set 20 years after the alien invasion that occurred in the first Independece Day movie, with humanity having united in the face of their common enemy, adapting alien technology with human technology in the hope to stave off another attack. When one of the big harvester ships arrives to finish what was started two decades ago, humanity is put to the test.
Being a fan of the first movie, I was really pumped to see this one, and I was not disappointed. All of the original cast [that mattered] returned (with the exception of Will Smith, who was more of a side-show than a worthwhile character imo), making it really feel like a sequel instead of a reboot. The storyline is consistent with the first movie and the 20-year time-jump, the graphics are fantastic, the pacing is on point and the action delivers. Where the first movie was all about the disasterous nature of the alien invasion, the sequel is all about the battle to defend the planet and kick their ass.
Fans of Sci-fi and Action movies will definitely enjoy ID2, however anyone that hates Action and hates Science Fiction will likely not.

In a fantasy kingdom consisting of many races, an unknown enemy appears, threatening the peace and endangering the lives of all that dwell in the realm. Can the humans defend against the Orc invasion, and what will become of the invaders?
Personally, I enjoyed this movie, which is a surprise considering I'm neither a WoW fan/player nor a fan of Fantasy movies in general. I saw Warcraft with my old man (he's not a fan of the Fantasy genre either), and he both enjoyed it and hoped there would be a sequel. His comment at the end was "that was so much better than the Lord Of the Rings", a statement with which I would agree. When you compare the two (pick any movie from the LoTR trilogy) the pacing of Warcraft is significantly better, the graphics are better, the fighting is more satisfying, and the focus is more on the plot instead of an annoying circle-jerk of "character development".
If you're a big fan of the LoTR, Fantasy or Action movies, then I expect you'll enjoy this movie, despite it being based on a MMORPG game. If you get off on hours of dialogue and panoramic shots of New Zealand, then this might not appeal to you, as the focus really is on battle rather than chit-chat.
