Anyone here get creative with their protein other than mix with water/ consume?

Lately I have been doing:

Mocha shake.
  • espresso 2x shot
  • 2 scoops of chock flavor WPI
  • cubes of ice
  • then blend.
Protein Pancake batter.
  • one scoop WPI (plain or chock)
  • one whole banana mashed
  • almond milk (add until right pancake batter consistency)
Anyone else have other mixes/concoctions?

During the final week of the Max's challenge I went a little delirious and became obsessed with pancakes. I wasn't allowed to eat them, but I researched a bunch of healthy recipes.

With all the recipes below, add all ingredients into a blender or bowl and mix. Then pour into the pan. Each recipe should make 2 big pancakes.


Cinnamon Pancakes
1 scoop of protein powder
2 egg whites
Half cup of unsweetened almond milk
1 tablespoon of cinnamon


Chocolate Pancakes
4 whole eggs
2 egg whites
4 teaspoons of stevia
1 teaspoon of cocoa powder
1 cup of oats


Peanut Butter Pancakes
1 scoop of protein powder
6 egg whites
2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter
Half cup of unsweetened almond milk


Cheese Pancakes
1 scoop of protein powder
9 egg whites
1 cup of oats
1 cup of low fat cottage cheese



Also with my night protein shake before bed, I add a teaspoon of psyllium husk and flaxseed oil. It gives the shake a nutty taste. What you want to do is shake it up and let it stand for a good 10 minutes. The psyllium husk turns into like a jelly making the shake really thick.

been smashing down brekkie shakes:
2 Scoops Chock WPI
Banana
Rolled oats
few ice cubes
Tablespoon of peanut butter
Blend till smooth, enjoy ;)

I do the exact same shake but without the eggs. Can you taste the eggs in the shake?

I find when i have shakes with an egg, it seems to be lighter...i only used to add eggs for protein...but with protein powder i don't use eggs any more.

I read somewhere that your meant to have a little bit at least of the associated fats (yolk) with the whites to activate the protien or something like that. I'll try to find it when I get home from work.

I actually have one whole and one egg white, I only wrote two egg whites for ease

No you can't taste the eggs at all, I do it for the extra protein and cos eggs are just good for you but also it makes the shake light and fluffy

i put 50/50 self raising flour and rolled oats for my pancakes and put about 50grams of whey with vanilla extract and banana. then i spread peanut butter and jam over them.
the whey powder makes pancakes kind of rubbery.

good tip, will try that for brekkie tomorrow, i always found that the whey makes it a little unmanageable in the pan.

Bro in law bought me a Sunbeam blend n'go for XMAS. Best thing in the kitchen!!

This is what I have been having recently;

1 scoop WPI (30grms)
1/2 cup almond milk
1 ts honey
3 ice cubes
either 2 weet bix or 1/4 cup rolled oats (can taste the oats more then the weetbix)
either 1/2 banana or 3 strawberries
if banana 1 ts natural peanut butter if strawberries 1 ts greek yoghurt
and sometimes 1 egg

I have been having these shakes recently:

1 mango
1 banana
2 eggs
3/4 cup almond milk
5 ice cubes
drizzle of honey
sometimes 2 strawberries

Blend. Consistency of thick sludge, but delicious.
Could add oats for more calories, but would be too thick.
I'll still give it a crack and let you know.

Don't cheap out on blenders. Shitty ones don't work at all.

I did quite a bit of research last year and nearly got one of the Blendtec/Vitamix blenders (seen on YouTube blending phones and shit), but didn't like the idea of spending $500. The next best blender was this Breville.

It creates a vortex which sucks down the food so you don't end up with lumps. It's all digital with a countdown timer so you don't burn out the motor. I've been using it every single day for 70 seconds for the last 7 months. So far it hasn't missed a beat. You can get them at Harvey Norman for $200.

The blender I had has already stuffed up! The plastic spinning bits have worn out after 3 weeks of use! Will get it replaced under warranty but yep cheap shit is cheap.

Can ppl share their reasonings behind drinking almond milk instead of normal full cream milk??

I've looked at the nutritional breakdowns and noticed the benefits of the almond milk was that the far content was slightly lower and made up of mono fats rather than predominantly saturated fats found in full cream, good thing. And the carbs/sugar content was just shy of half of that of full cream, another good thing.

However, almond milk has less protein, less calories, more sodium, and less calcium. It also contains cane sugar which I thought was bad?

So they're my observations. Explain.

Yeah I'm leaning towards that also, soy/almond milk off the shelf goes through a heck of a lot of processing comparatively to Cow's milk.

I mainly use almond milk (unsweetened) if a required consistency or texture is desired, my gf and I are foodies and do try out a lot of different recipes that often require milk alternatives, we have even made our own batches with a blender, cheese cloth and fresh almonds, otherwise its a mix with cold water for fluid or full cream milk for me, normally i down milk by the liter daily (even more in winter, love that flavour).

Berry Sauce.

If your having a hard time downing your pancakes because theres no flavour, here is a sauce recipe to help.

1 cup blue berry
1 cup strawberry
100ml water

In a saucepan pour water and the fruits, over a low-medium heat.
When the fruits soften get a electric hand blender and combine all till its a smooth texture.
Turn up the heat, and reduce the sauce down till your desired thickness.

If you like this recipe, you could bottle it and save it for later
