  1. If you search you'll find i had no success with the Jaycar unit, wiring is same as for dakota. The dakota actually shows you the pulse signal when setting up, very useful as i didn't have an oscilloscope and jaycar was doing stuff all so it was good to see everything as ok when dakota was plugged in. It then shows you the % change setting which makes intial speed correction a cinch if you've done calculations.
  2. Search the forum and you'll find you need to get a dakota digital sgi-5 e from oz ebay - hotrodhardware
  3. I was just after a few quality clamps that don't cut/fail so internet purchase +p&p was no go. My Repco, AB, Bunnings just had the cheaper models in tridon range etc. So took the generic hose shop advice ditched the internet and dusted off the yellow pages - job done. Worm drive solid band rolled edge $2 a pop cash.
  4. Thread revival, everyone mentions get decent hose clamps but which walk in shops sell them? The auto stores etc don't seem to sell norma/tridon solid band style worm clamps.
  5. Radiator Clutch fan replacement

Cheers job done, used a ruler to note deflection but also a bit of paint to mark rotations in then out to get me roughly back to starting point and confirmed with ruler. Also noted last workshop didn't replace bottom of the shroud which will not have helped my overheating issue. Doh
  6. Can anyone confirm if you really need to lessen the belt tension (and risk messing up the tension when redoing) prior to replacing the clutch fan? The water pump and thermostat were replaced last year - foolishly didn't replace the clutch which has now gone. I was expecting to just follow the manual which when replacing the water pump mentions disconnecting the clutch fan etc prior to loosening the belt and pump removal. But then saw this: http://www.nissansil...howtopic=513471 http://forum.s15oc.c...ensioning-Guide

in that case I can tell you my deltas when I check
  10. Help required from S14 owner

Yeah too late for me to provide those pts of reference but i can tell you the height on mine was pretty much the same as my BCs when I told centreline to drop car to level control arms then do an alignment. Springs 8/5 Do you drive/trailer car to track? I drive, so noted Reds are slightly less harsh than BC ERs. On track no significant time difference on my first day back, we'll see.

So long ago but my records show it was around 695F 670R stock suspension n wheels - since been through a set of BCs now reds with slightly rolled rear.
  12. yes, probably a reason why jaycar is $30 and doesn't work while this was $185 - it's the dogs bollocks. They recommend settings for how far out it was, mine was only 12%, so High in High out using output1. They have an analyser function that displays the speedo signal pulses per minute - so I didn't need to bother with an oscilloscope, I could see the signal being intercepted was stuffed or good. They even have a test function where you can send certain PPMs to the speedo while car is stationary. Longest setup time (few minutes) was deciding where to put it as it's about twice the size of the jaycar unit IIRC.
  13. Update Dakota Digital SGI-5E worked, wiring was as tried with the Jaycar unit which didn't work. If you don't want to stump up $185, maybe chat to this guy before buying the Hummingbird one. http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2446892&pid=2088635420&st=0entry2088635420
  14. R200 Diff Shimming

I know I've got an s14, but I was very happy with my choice to go s15 R200 diff as an interim instead of shims, bolted up sweet - Note I'm still looking for a 1.5 as it's not a full cure I still spin up the inside at certain tight corners at Winton etc. Only issue was I didn't check the final drive so I got 3.9 AT version, not the 3.7 but it was
  15. Thought I'd better check again and this time an AU seller popped up on ebay. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HotRod-SGI-5E-speedo-interface-for-tyre-size-diff-gear-changes-Dakota-Digital-/221994360947?hash=item33afe52073:g:KBMAAOSwX~dWls00
