  5. Hey everyone. I need help, tips and pointers from people who have done this before or know information on it. So I don't want people saying "go rb20 it's easy" or asking how much power I want. I'm just getting it together and running standard not going massive power now. I have a r32 skyline rolling shell and putting a series 2 rb25det into it. I have gearbox n the custom mounts to fit the 32, the motor and other bits and pieces. 1st, question would be, is a rb20det radiator the same as a rb25det? If not will a rb25det radiator fit in the standard brackets in the r32? 2nd, the loom and ecu I still need to buy but want to know will it all plug and go or do I need to customize the loom to fit the r32 and if so is it a small easy job or do I need it professionally done? Does someone have a step by step instructions for it? 3rd, when I got the car it came with the exhaust from the cat back but no cat, the bolt pattern is 3 bolts and seems to be 4", now I have looked up r32 and r33 cars and they are 2 bolt does anyone have a idea what the 3 bolt goes to? 4th, can someone tag the how to thread for installing a forward facing plenum on a rb25, I have been searching and can't find it. Thanks everyone in advance, I'm sure I'll have more and more questions but a lot of help would be great thanks Mark

  10. Hey guys, I have been doing a bit of research but still can't decide on what I am going to change/upgrade cooling wise. I have an N/A SR20DE S13 and have had some overheating problems which led to the engine dying. The engine is currently being fixed but I just want to make sure that it doesn't happen again. I was thinking of getting a bigger aluminium radiator and also and oil cooler kit but I'm not sure is that would be the right option as it's only and N/A engine. I'm just looking for some advice from people who have done any cooling mods to an SR20DE and also the cheapest yet most effective way to do so. Please feel free to comment as I want to gather all the information I can Thanks, Curtis.
  11. Getting a RWC done for my s15, but the previous-previous owner had some holes cut in the rad core support for an intercooler (I suspect a PBM cooler) so I need to get these holes patched asap. Went to get quotes today and the cost these shops charge is phenomenal. One shop has quoted me 1200 for the full job and 700 if I strip the front down and trailer it there. Too much for me. If there is an experienced welder on the forum that knows what they are doing and wants to make some cash in hand right now that would be fantastic. I’m looking for the holes to be patched with same gauge steel and be blended and roughly pained to give it an original appearance and be structurally sound. Please contact me asap via PM if you are interested and willing to help me out. I am located in Bulleen 3105. Cheers! pics located here: http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=533543&hl=&fromsearch=1
  12. Purchased an s15 a few weeks ago, finally got it to my mechanic for the RWC and he says the car is perfect and clean except for the radiator support. Apparently a section has been removed for what I’m assuming was for a front mount intercooler. He says he can’t road worthy it like this and that I would need to go to a panel shop to see if it could be repaired or worst case need replacing! So, looking at the worst case.. If it needs replacing does the radiator support need to be cut out and welded in, or is it a bolted on structure part of the car? How difficult is the job and how much (from knowledge/experience) would I be looking at to set this right with a new radiator support? Really need some help here, don't know what to do. The car is so clean everywhere else, I bought it stock, but there is this underlying issue from its past.

  14. Hey guys, I have notice when I changed my coolant and then refilled my radiator tiny little frothy bubbles coming out. Is it a bad head gasket or signs that its on its way out? I have pressureized the radaitor, it holds pressure. I have changed the radiator cap. But still there are tiny frothy bubbles. I have not lost any power. My power fc reads 90 degrees celcius but it has always read 90 degrees is that normal? Also theres no coolant in the oil or vice versa. need help thanks
  15. my car has been over heating lately changed the thermostat flushed the radiator its not the head gasket etc.. thinking it could be the water pump, yet to check/change but looking at the radiator, its looks pretty small (old owner had a new one put in 4 years ago but looks like it may be wrong) anybody got any specs on radiator size? thanks

  22. Hi guys, Need some local Adelaide peeps help. See Pic below. S15 JDM. Got a predator enginebay mount i/c and radiator kit...(when I bought the car came with it) See Pic below. The radiator recently had a leak on one the top tank right on the fold so I had that welded up which is all fine. However, a few weeks later I'm not having mystery coolant loss...I'm having to fill up the reservoir every 2-3rd day as it's sucking down all the coolant... I'd like to think I'm pretty handy with my mechanical abilities, I've checked the following.. Pressure Tested...fine Radiator Cap ok (new Nismo 1.3bar cap anyway) Checked both hoses and clamps...all seem fine No leak from waterpump checked oil cap for watery (Head Gasket) symptoms..none..besides, car runs and idles fine hot and cold.. compression fine no green coolant etc on spark plugs no coolant dripping on the floorpan...or groud thermostat opens and closes fine (tested by me) Can smell the coolant while driving a bit...engine temps stay perfectly in the middle. The only thing I can think off is when the repairs grinded back and welded maybe there is a leak there someone but certainly not visible (and also pressure tested fine? wtf?) Could there be air in the system...was thinking of emptying all coolant and refilling slowly whiling burping it myself...but otherwise, I'm at a loss. My second question is this. Heard that these kits arn't considered that great anyway - I'd be happy to get a new radiator and be done with it, but the problem is because of the customisation I can't exactly get one off the shelf...unless I buy a reccomended radiator and get some welding done to mount up the thermo fan and the brackets for it to bolt to the i/c? In a pinch, I would even consider getting a kit like a blitz I/C and getting a alloy s15 replacement stock radiator? Thirdly..I need a decent tuner/mechanic to goto. All the work since I've had the car has been by me which is fine, I had it dyno'd once by Southern Hi-Tech but to be honest I wasn't impressed with their service...or ability to do many custom mods/etc I'm looking at Garage 7 to do the following: Sort out my coolant issue Install Nisstune Fabricate Better Pipework for Hot/Cold pipe test and doublecheck thermo setup Dyno Tune etc... I'm sure a lot of you guys have had good experiences with G7 and Declan's tuning... The rest I'm happy to do but I def need to build a rapport with a good solid workshop and tuner that I'm going to trust my car with in future for my Build plans. any advice/help is appreciated..SUCKS working in the City and being away from some great tuners that I can't just easily leave my car with and trust to do a good job..
