manifold material

hi,

 

i need a new turbo manifold for my sr20 s13 as mine is cracked and i was wondering what type of metal is best for the job so can anyone give me some ideas of what to get? i notice alot of stainless steel ones are they any good? thanks.

+1 for steampipe

 

s/s manifolds have a tendancy to crack, get holes

 

or you could keep the stock cast manifold, goodluck putting a hole through that :lol:

stock sr manifold is tough as anything

 

how tuff is anything?

just had my steam pipe manifold made up with a new mild steel dump/front pipe and screamer etc and then coated in black ceramic coating.

 

is niiiiiice :D

 

steam pipe rox (got sick of my chinese ebay SS mani always having leaks)... oh and t28 got boring haha.

well if you managed to crack the standard unit stainless is definatly worth the upgrade, just think of how shinny it will be

i dunno, it was warped pretty bad maybee from that.

but i think thee engeineer did it on the stud puller. and if you don't know what that is, it's a machine that pulls studs out>

ive seen the standard cast iron manifold crank but i would say it was just bad luck

I thought S/S is really good if you get it in 3mm thick. I don't think 2mm thick would last that long but then again I think the tomei manifold is 2mm thick. Silk road and Sun line racing are 3mm and they are exactly the same I m pretty sure.

ive seen 3mm thick 306 and 316 grade stainless manifolds crack

 

when it comes to manifolds u cant go past a steam pipe manifold
