R200 Diff Ratios

Recommended Posts

Long nose is a totally different ball game, found in dr30's I think? R31 don't run IRS rear end (maybe in the gtsr or other imported models) Abs housings are longer than non abs due to the fitment of abs sensor = different length tailshafts must be used

Just thought id share finally got to drive my 180 with its new 4.636 diff (alot of work to fit this and get it working within a r200, dont just think its an easy drop in and she'll be right).

4.636 diff

100km in 5th gear = 3000rpm

80km in 5th gear = 2800rpm

I love it for the street.

Did you adjust your speedo?

I'm also really interested in the 4.636 ratio - When you say it took a lot of work to fit, how so? I thought it might just be a case of removing the diff centre's ring gear and the diff's pinion gear and replacing them with the 4.636 ones, what more is involved?

I also find it odd that people are reporting doing 3000rpm at 100km with 4.1, 4.3 and 4.6 diffs (see thread http://nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=486832 ) - could this be due to the gearbox?

Also, how much better is it than your last 4.363 ratio?

The bolts that hold the crown on were different thickness so had to get sleaves machined up to take up the slack in the holes. It didnt fit into the first R200 housing i had. It took 2 short half shafts(the bits that go into the diff).

Think that was about it. alot of stuffing around getting it to bolt in. that cost me $500 (to install, and setup the diff), the crown and pinion was around $500, and the 2 way originally cost me around $500~ so yeh not too cheap...

Speed was calculated using a GPS Speedo(dont have a speedo). Im running 18's all round as well.

im pretty sure this is from an old drift tengku magazine, looks like some amazing info there. all we need to do is translate it..

i think it also should be noted here that when changing to say from 3.9 to 4.1, the half shafts have to be changed also.

refer photo for both drivers sides half shafts, 3.9 on left and 4.1 on right

Hey guys looking at upgrading my factory aus delivered manual s14a diff to a 4.11 (or 4.3) ratio diff for better acceleration/drag times when the time comes.Whats my current diff ratio and will any off these suggested diffs basically bolt straight in,for example r33 gtst diff (or r32 gtst for 4.3 ratio) ? New to the site,so help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

im guessing your running a "3.692 - S14 SR20DET ADM Manual"?????????

to answer your question, yes you can use a r33 diff*

*all you have to do is make sure if your diff has an abs sensor, you buy one with one too as its physically longer than non ABS diffs.

also, im pretty sure that r32 diffs are not rubber mounted as the s14's are all rubber mounted so you cant easily bolt up a r32 diff (some correct me if incorrect)

hope this helps you

I have a ca18det manual (was originally auto) & i need to know which one i have so i can get the right diff center -_-

there are 6 mount holes on the rear of the subframe, looking from the rear. R200 uses the 4 outside ones, R180 uses 2 of the inside ones and 2 of the outside ones.

Ditto.

Also for anyone going the 4.6 crown wheel they use the smaller crown wheel bolts from what Xris is saying.

Nismo ring gear bolts solve this issue. They have a 13mm shank and 12mm thread vs the regular old 13mm shank/thread
