carrion 0 Posted November 2, 2010 Was wondering what if you guys know/what you think of Sea of Treachery? good band, i use to listen to them a year ago. definitely more hardcore/metalcore though, not really deathmetal Hardcore? Where do you get that vibe from lol?
sharkey 2 Posted November 2, 2010 i personally have never considered Soilwork, Children of Bodom or In Flames Death Metal. I suppose they are, but ive never thought of them like that. Death Metal needs the growling voice, not singing. They dont do high pitched screams either they growl. I dont know anymore, too many variations on it, too many sub genres cropping up like Behemoth, wheres that fit? Exhorder? is that thrash? Eye Hate God? is that sludge? who draws the lines? yeah none of those bands are deathmetal... closest would be children of bodom, but i would class them as more metal

Where do you get that vibe from lol? vice? no... they ARE hardcore. hardcore is breakdowns and 2-steps beats.... there is a MASSIVE difference between hardcore and deathmetal. Listen to The Black Dahlia Murder, then listen to Sea Of Treachery.... mega difference.
(OO)SKYLINE(OO) 2 Posted November 3, 2010 Here is some Death Metal for you all! Iniquity! Austria's finest in brutality = Distorted Impalement - Blast Beats - Breakdowns - Pig Squeals
carrion 0 Posted November 3, 2010 I didn't say they were deathmetal. I just didn't get where the hard core aspect came from. Always just considered stuff like comeback kid and 50 lions hardcore. And stuff like sea metalcore + loads of breakdown-ness. I prefer bdm and jfac more anyway but that's not the point. You guys into as blood runs black or? You guys into as blood runs black or? Friggin awesome band! Had a chat to the singer when they were on tour last year and was a cool dude. Then I was out with a friend at a club, as I was walking to the bar, Ernie, the guitar player just randomly walked in and I was like WTF?! Just so happen I was wearing my ABRB t-shirt on and he was stoked and we'd all slam down a few Jagers together. Looks like ABRB have a new LP coming out called "Instinct" and on tour atm in the USA. + it looks like the have a new line up of band members now...

A31Cefiro 49 Posted November 4, 2010 Moving away from the death metal thing for a bit, I chucked a former favourite cd in this morning on the drive to work. My Dying Bride - Songs of Darkness, this song in particular is just amazing. I recommend having a bottle of decent red wine, pressing play & then turning the monitor off and just enjoying the brilliance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZtt4NBisRo

(OO)SKYLINE(OO) 2 Posted November 4, 2010 OK.. who is old school like me and stands by Machinehead, Fear Factory, Sepultura (whilst Max Cavalera was on vocals), Pantera (Before Dimebag was shot down), etc.. Yeah! Saw MH / FF / Soulfly but never got to see Pantera, cuz I don't think I was old enough to know what was going on about when they were coming to AUS... How many of you folks have wathed the docos Metal: A Headbanger's Journey and Global Metal by Sam Dunn? Always wanted to watch a Metal Music doco... Can you recommend any more? OK.. who is old school like me and stands by Machinehead, Fear Factory, Sepultura (whilst Max Cavalera was on vocals), Pantera (Before Dimebag was shot down), etc.. I prefer my old school to mean Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, etc. Slayer Parkway drive dvd... Was an awesome 1st DVD. Great recording of the show / sound quality and the documentation of how they got to where they are now. I remember seeing PWD back in the day when they played shows every couple of months, tickets would be $12.50 (approx) and all they would play is their EP Don't Close Your Eyes. Throw in a track off Killing With A Smile and that be the show for the night Now you'd have to pay $30+, see them at large venues and most of the music would be off the newer albums, which kinda suck. I only like the EP / Killing With A Smile and a few tracks of Horizons.
A31Cefiro 49 Posted November 4, 2010 How many of you folks have wathed the docos Metal: A Headbanger's Journey and Global Metal by Sam Dunn? Always wanted to watch a Metal Music doco... There's apparently another good one kicking around that looks more at how metal came to be. The 2 I mentioned by Sam Dunn & Scott MacFayden look more at the globalisation of metal as Sam Dunn is an anthropologist. Have you seen the Iron Maiden film/doco Flight 666? It was made by the same guys. Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster - I recommend seeing this just to get an idea of how gay Metallica really are. A quick google search revealed a few more (I haven't seen these): Heavy: The Story of Metal Metalheads Heavy Metal: Louder Than Life Dancing With The Devil (1991) Until The Light Takes Us (looks at Black Metal - this will be seriously interesting) Promised Land of Heavy Metal (looks at Finnish metal)

carrion 0 Posted November 4, 2010 Yea killing with a smile does rock. And I thought like that too, especially when I first played horizons, but then it grew on me and I coudnt deny it's f**king awesomeness, same thing happened with deep blue, absolutely hated it to start with. But it's parkway drive so I love all their musics

I listen to a lot of old school Fear Factory. Some of the best shit to lift weights to. Only got a few Pantera tracks. Just the obvious ones like Cowboys From Hell, Cemetery Gates, Broken. I'll have to grab more. Oldest stuff I have would probably be Slayer. This has got to be one of the best intros to a song imo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep_9S9WH8TI
