things that annoy you

Recommended Posts

People who say "this is offensive", "i'm offended" or "you offended me" like it is some kind of disaster that everybody should be shocked by. That's great sweetheart, you are offended, nobody gives a flying f**k.

along with that, people that complain about cyber bullying, it's so easy to block people on facebook/phone numbers. its just the people that can dish out the shit or send nudes that get spread then they cry about it.

yeah, that's what I don't get. Shouldn't the dude be in cuffs at the moment down in parramatta station being questioned about his corruption allegations? How come he is walking free at the moment? They have evidence from his own mouth now, so shouldn't he really be waiting for a court date?

You guys realise all he did was fail to report receiving a single bottle of wine right??

It's not like he deliberately disrupted and slowed down a federal investigation into misuse of union funds in order to protect one of his MP's and prevent himself from losing the top position. I mean, what kind of corrupt piece of shit would do that?

In a position like his, he would sign piles of paper each day and probably receives multiple gifts each week. It is not beyond the realm of reality for a person to lose track of one gift they received.

Was it sloppy and short sighted behaviour? Sure it was!

Was it such an enormous a crime to the people of NSW that it would warrant a massive disruption to our government just for a bottle of fermented grapes?

I'm all for reprimanding the guy, and giving him punishment for his mistake, but you people screaming for jail time clearly have a short memory. This is the biggest screw up to come out of NSW Liberals, now think about some of the massive f**kups to come out of NSW Labor. How many Labor MP's went to jail over a bottle of wine?

Obviously a liberal supporter yourself and that's fine. I'm neither they are both corrupt.

BUT, what your forgetting is this isn't just a bottle of wine. This is a bottle he received from a corrupt CEO... And then later that day quits his job?

If he literally just forgot and slipped his mind, why has he quit? So later when they investigate deeper and realise his envolvmnt in the thing he is no longer in parliament and not destroying the libs credibility ?

If it turns out that he has other things to hide, then so be it and good riddance to him. Until such evidence is uncovered it is pure speculation.

I am not a Liberal supporter, i hate Labor but i do not support the libs. It pisses me off that the public get so starved for controversy when the Libs are in power than they will wet themselves at the first possibility of corruption. Then Labor gets in power and there are so many corruption scandals that people stop even paying attention to it.

If this was a Labor MP, the entire party would have closed ranks around him, put up every roadblock possible for the investigation and stalled the proceedings until long after his term was over. This guy steps down on his own accord, and people are still screaming for blood.

Who cares who it is from? Did he do anything dodgy for it in return?

Also, if i was a Liberal supporter, i would not care about this fuss, because they are still in power regardless.

:edit:

And while we are on the topic of guilty consciences, nobody pulled Labor up for their extremely guilty behaviour prior to the last state election. They spent days burning every document in their possession prior to the election. Where were the screams for justice then?

The point i am making is the double standards people are applying.

He quit because the statement he made to the ICAC was proven as false by the signed letter.

If I took a $3k bottle of wine for divulging company secrets to a competitor, I would probably be charged with a crime, even if I did resign, and even if i resigned before it was discovered, and Im not the premier of a state.

this guy, gets caught, lies about it, they have the phone call and the courier to prove it, STILL lies about it, they have a written note from his office, STILL LIES ABOUT IT, but admits he did write the note (how this makes sense to him is beyond me)

resigns, because thats the obligatory thing to do.

go home, drink some more expensive wine, carry on with life like nothing happened.

Try that analogy again, only this time apply it to a scenario where you accepted a gift, did nothing about it and told nobody. Would you still get fired?

He is not currently being grilled for doing anything other than accepting a gift and not declaring it on the official register.

And there is no evidence to prove he lied, he said he did not recall, not it didn't happen. It was years ago, i'd probably forget too.

"did you accept a bottle of 1959 grange from Nic?"

"No, i didnt accept a bottle of 1959 grange from nic"

"it was sent via secure courier, with a signature, and the delivery was accepted at your address"

"I wasnt home. we were all on holidays. the dog wasnt even home"

"there is a phone call from your phone to nic on the night the courier delivered the bottle, 30 seconds long. what did you say?"

"I dont remember"

"we have a note written by you on your note pad from your office thanking Nic and his wife for the 1959 grange"

"I did not receive a bottle of 1959 grange. I did write the note however. BRB resigning from Premier"

I am paraphrasing, but he didnt say "I do not recall". he vehemently denied receiving the bottle, and was caught lying about it, red handed.

the point is, its the tip of the iceberg in what is undoubtedly a regular occurrence in all politics, and also evident in big business.

CEO takes on role at new company.

Totally f**ks up the company, costs share holders money with shitty decisions.

CEO resigns at the request of the board.

CEO updates resume, talks about how he was too ambitious or 'ahead of the market'

gets hired by new company

rinse, repeat.

There is no accountability and no responsibility for these people and the salary they receive should reflect that. Like I said, If I was caught selling our customer data to a direct competitor, or even just giving it away for free, I would be fired in an instant, no question. meanwhile the CEO of my old job was tendering security contracts for our facility, then this one outlier security firm gets the job on price that is highly questionable in that it is under delivering services and over charging for it. 2 months later, it is discovered the CEO owned the winning security firm 100%, and used the tender process to figure out the best way to manipulate their tender to ensure they get the contract.

So the board suggest he resigns, now hes the CEO of another multinational corp.

The whole point is, they are doing something wrong, they KNOW its wrong, they still do it, and no one f**king holds them accountable for it! its bullshit, and it doesnt matter if it was just a bottle of wine or a 200k donation to a political fund, its still rotten shit that should not ever occur.

Not only that, I can remember the fact that I still owe my mate a beer from 6 months ago when we had a bet at the pub. You bet your f**king arse he would remember a 3K bottle of wine.

Not a good example. You remember a $5 beer from 6 months ago, yet I'll often forget whether or not my housemate has paid me back $20 he borrowed for the gym a few days later.

If they sent him a $3000 escort for the night, then I'd totally expect him to remember, but at the end of the day a $3k bottle of wine is a still just a bottle of wine; drink enough of the crap and you could easily forget about it. In saying that though, it's clear that he bailed on the job before any more of his lies could catch up to him.

I don't agree, for wine to be the gift he is a connoisseur.

You don't forget a 50 yr old bottle of grange if you collect or appreciate wine.

Just like you wouldn't forget a roll of 100's being plonked on your desk.

You certainly don't forget a good bottle of wine being given to you if you like wine. My old man got given a bottle of grange from 1986 by a couple in Sydney whom he flew from Adelaide to see to advise them on financial investments. They didn't end up signing anything with him but as a thankyou for travelling to see them they gave him the bottle.

It's not a $3K bottle, hell it's not even a $1K bottle, and I'm not even the one that received it but I still remember it...

Varvs, you keep likening this bottle of wine to you giving out secrets, but there is absolutely no similarity between the two.

If the transcript you quoted is true, then he clearly lied and my information is flawed, fair enough the man is guilty.

However, receiving a gift is cause for concern that he might be doing something wrong, but it is not the smoking gun.

We can't go assuming there is something more until that something more is discovered.

In any case, if getting kickbacks and lying about it is enough to send a politician to jail, we have a long list of other politicians that need to go there before O'Farrel.
